This Week in Room 106!

March 28th-April 1st

PLEASE READ

With students not wearing masks I am noticing more and more hands and items going into mouths. Please discuss putting hands and other objects into mouths with your child. I do not know for sure but I do not think anyone from CPS has ever cleaned our floor so please discuss this health matter with your child.

Language Arts

This week we will learn more about the individuals who keep our communities running. We also discussed the difference between a job and a career. This coming week we will decide on a career or job and write an all about book to inform our classmates.

Writer’s Workshop

This week we started our new unit titled: How to

We will learn the steps to complete a task and write our own How to books.

Math

We focused on addition and subtraction symbols. The lessons are reviewing a few concepts we already know but now students are taking more ownership of their work and are asked to explain their thinking and reflect on their work.

Amplify Science-Needs of Plants and Animals

We did it! Animals must have food to survive! The caterpillars left the field because they feed on milkweed plants. When the community changed the kids field to a garden they no longer had milkweed. This week we visited other animal habitats to help us prove that animals all over the world need flourishing habitats to survive. When the weather warms up we are going to plant our own milkweed seeds in our class garden.

Poetry

It’s spring! Starting this week we will study poetry. Each week I will introduce a new poem. The poem will come home each Friday.

Please ask your child to identify the following about their poem:

*sight words

*rhyming words

Sorts

The sort may be different for individual students based on their skill level. The completed sort will come home on Friday glued to a black sheet of paper.
