Cassell 5-8th Grade PE Activity Log

Hello Cassell families!

During these crazy times of school at home, I feel it is more important than ever to be active, not just for our physical health, but for our emotional and mental health as well. During the weeks that we will not meet in school, each student will be assigned to make a choice between three physical activities that they must complete. There will be activities that incorporate health, fitness, and sports concepts, so that each student can learn to take ownership of their personal health and start to make some goals.


Each week, students will:


  1. Receive the list of activities from Mr. Panozzo on the "Resources" tab of the PE site. Each student will choose to complete at least 1 of the activities. (or one of their own!) If that activity is short or takes less than 30 minutes, students will choose a second activity.

  2. Once the activity is completed, it must be logged on the physical activity log attached below. This is very important because it will encompass all of the physical education work done for the foreseeable future. It will be graded on a completion basis.

    1. Log the week, activity, and amount of time spent active doing those activities

    2. Write AT LEAST once sentence reflecting on your workout. Give as much detail as possible! Did someone do it with you? Was it fun/ not fun?

    3. Create a fitness goal for that week. Some examples may include distance running, pushups, sit ups, burpees, jump rope, etc. Make it your own and complete it by the next week.

  3. Any other physical activities that students do that are not listed absolutely qualify as their activity for the week. The goal is AT THE LEAST 30 minutes, but any more is better.

  4. Get outside as much as you can! But continue to practice social distancing.

  5. Send pictures, tell stories, and keep me updated on how you are doing! I will be doing the same (I have been playing a lot of street hockey). mpanozzo@cps.edu


Complete this warm up/ stretch as many days a week as you can:


Standing- jumping jacks, arm across left/right, arm over head left/right, arm circles forward/back, reach down and touch toes, spread legs and lean left/right/middle, quad stretch left/right

Sitting- butterfly, legs together straight out, leg over and twist left/right, spread legs lean left/right/middle, one leg back one leg forward, lean forward, then backward for left/right leg, knee hug left/right

RUNNING: JOG, HIGH KNEES, BUTT KICKS, SHUFFLE, KARAOKE, FRANKENSTEIN, MINECRAFT, WALKING LUNGES, BACKWARDS, MARIO JUMPS, CARTWHEEL/ BEAR CRAWL, SPRINT
