MYP World Studies

Welcome! This course offers a colorful and exciting spectrum of social studies subjects covering a variety of themes. This course will ask you to think like a historian while covering themes such as geography, environment, religion, government, African history, and global conflict. By the end of the year, you will have an understanding of the history of our modern world and how you fit in it!

The primary objective of this course is to prepare you to have the skills necessary for continued success as you encounter history throughout high school, college, and beyond. We will focus on skills encompassing both academic and social skills. These skills vary from reading and writing to communication and content specific skills. The course is reading and writing intensive, while you will also use what you read and write to participate in group and classroom discussion.
