Shareable Sight Word Template

Sight word template

You can use this template to create presentations of sight words. This video gives offers good ideas on how to instruct on sight words. If you're teaching remotely, you can have the students write the word in the air, on paper, or just continue to play "beat the teacher" until students are comfortable with reading the word. To play beat the teacher, count to three slowly, showing them your fingers as you count. When you get to three, say the word (if they haven't already), and have them repeat it. I almost always select sight words from a book to prepare them for reading the text. That gives students an immediate opportunity to see the words in context and they feel proud when they are able to read the sight words in the book. Ensure students have mastered the words before expecting them to read independently.
