Does Disney II have a school uniform? No, we do not require students to wear a school uniform. We encourage students to dress respectfully, comfortably, and expressively.
How can I enroll my student in Disney II? We are a lottery-based enrollment school. Families must apply to GoCPS during the open application window. It is recommended to select Disney II as your first choice.
We have another child that attends Disney II. Is our other child automatically accepted? Having a sibling at Disney II does increase the chances of getting in. Be sure to mark this on your GoCPS application.
What is block scheduling? Our students follow a block schedule where they have 100-minute classes every-other-day. This allows for our students and teachers to really delve into their learning without having to rush. Our schedule can be found on our school website: Remote Learning Schedule
I hear Disney II uses a program called Summit for all of their learning. What is Summit? Summit is a learning management system that allows for more transparency between students, teachers, and families. As a competency based school, Summit allows learners to follow their mastery of skills, allows for teachers to provide targeted feedback, and for parents to be able to see exactly what their students are working on in their classes. More information can be found here: What is Summit Learning?
How are parents and families involved in your school community? We have a very active LSC and a Disney II Friends committee that provide effective partnerships with the school. From new initiatives to fun, collaborative events, Disney II is so proud of the relationship we have with our families and communities.
Do we need to live in the neighborhood to get accepted into Disney II? We do accept some students within a two-mile radius of the school (must be indicated on the GoCPS application), but most of our student body comes from all over the city of Chicago. GoCPS selects a number of students from each tier in the City to makeup the student population at Disney II. More information about the CPS tier system can be found here: CPS Tiers
What are the transportation options for students that attend Disney II?We do not offer yellow bus services for students in either campus. Many students use public transportation, including the Blue Line which is just a few blocks away. We are located walking distance from Irving Park bus stops and both campuses are located right off of the Pulaski exit on the Kennedy Expressway.
