Chinese Curriculum
The Chinese curriculum used by CPS and Mitchell School is designed to meet the National Standards for Learning Languages which are known today as "The World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages." The standards are grouped into five categories called the 5C's and include Communication, Cultures, Comparisons, Connections and Communities. The Units are thematically organized, standards-aligned and performance based and include both formative and summative assessments.
During the first semester, students will be working on the Personal and Public Identity Theme. The Unit is Titled: When I Grow Up... The Essential Question they will answer is, how can I contritube to my community? They will be learning about family- their first community, people/jobs in the community, their own role in the community, and ways they can contribute to the community.
As always, feel free to email me at madurso@cps.edu with questions about Chinese learning .
