The BHT's primary function is to create a comprehensive system of support, not just to handle crises. Their goals include:
Prevention (Tier 1): Implementing school-wide programs to promote positive mental health, social-emotional learning, and a supportive school climate for all students.
Early Intervention (Tier 2): Providing targeted support to students who are at risk (e.g., small group counseling for stress or coping skills, check-in/check-out programs).
Intensive Services (Tier 3): Delivering individualized interventions for students with the highest needs, which may include one-on-one therapy, safety planning, and coordinating care with outside community providers.
Data-Driven Decision-Making: Regularly analyzing data (attendance, discipline referrals, grades, and screening results) to identify trends and evaluate the effectiveness of their interventions.
The ESHS Behavioral Health Team is dedicated to cultivating a safe, inclusive, and supportive educational environment by addressing the mental health needs of students. Our mission is to deliver prompt intervention, promote mental well-being, mitigate stigma, and empower students with the resources necessary to excel academically, emotionally, and socially. Through collaborative efforts with students, families, and educators, we aspire to construct a resilient community in which all students have access to the assistance required for their success.
