Many of you have heard about the new season of a Korean drama show called “Squid Game”. This show first aired 3 years ago, back in 2021. The premise of the show is about an organization that invites people with crippling debt to a series of games to win money. However, what they don't know is that there are dire consequences if they lose. Now I will warn you, this show is pretty gruesome, and I will be covering some more serious topics, so if you wish to skip off, now is the time. 

In the first season of the show, the main character, Seong Gi-Hun is introduced as a broke, divorced father. Eventually, he meets a man at the train station who we’ll get to know as the “recruiter.” The recruiter tells Seong that if he beats him in a game of ddakji, he will be awarded 100 thousand won. (roughly 68 USD)  So, as any unemployed, divorced dad would do, Gi-Hun took the deal. He went through several rounds of ddakji without managing to flip over the recruiter's card, but eventually won. He was awarded his money and given a card with a number. The recruiter said if he wanted more money, to participate in the games. This sets the stage for the rest of the season. 

Gi-Hun plays the games,  tries to vote out, fails, and ends up winning the whole thing. Which was 45.6 billion won. (around 31 Million USD). Now, after 3 years, on December 26, Squid Game season 2 dropped. However, as I’m writing this, it could change, but me and my dad have not finished all the episodes. So, as a compromise, I’ll write about what we’ve watched.

 When you start the first episode, we see the main character, with red hair, (as a result of the previous season’s cliffhanger), running through an airport. Gi-Hun is on a call with, who we know as the “Frontman” who runs the games and is getting told to get on a plane.

(Update) I have finished season two of the show with my dad, and let me tell you, that show is a woozy. I don't want to spoil anything for those who still want to watch it, but to sum it up, Gi-Hun gets back into the games, and the show ends off on a cliffhanger.  Overall, the show is a dark and twisted view of society, and I would definitely recommend this to people who have some free time. 

“Honey wake up,” I hear mom call from the kitchen. I smell the

satisfying smell of bacon and eggs, my favorite. I drag myself out

of bed. I decided that for the first day of school I am going to give a

“don’t talk to me vibe.” I put on an oversized black sweater. In the

middle of it is a red skull. I also put on a black skirt with chains

hanging off it. Last I put flat dark red boots that go to my knees. I

walk downstairs and sit at the counter. My mom gives me my

breakfast and points to the couch.

“There's your lunch and backpack all ready to go,” mom says.

“Great,” I say in a moody Monday voice.

I finish eating my breakfast, grab my bag and lunch and head for

the door.

“Now remember,” my mom calls out to me. “Don’t burn anything.”

I bet you're wondering what my mom means. Well, I have fire

powers. And of course they only power on when I'm mad. Classic

fire power story. I turn on my bluetooth headphones and play my

favorite song. Set Fire to the Rain by Adele. I walk to my new

school and the first thing I see is a big sign saying we are Beaubien

Bulldogs. I look at the big blacktop and there are some boy’s

playing soccer. Next to them is a big group of girls whispering.

“This is going to be a great year” I tell myself sarcastically.

Tyler the Creator is really talented in his music and has a unique style and ability to push boundaries with his lyrics and sound. His tour will begin on February 4 of 2025. So far he does not have a concert set in Chicago...but maybe that'll change!

Ping pong is widely known to be a very safe and fun sport but what happens when this relatively calm sport turns painful? Ping pong injuries are more common than you may think! In fact 50.6% of ping pong players have experienced a sports related injury in the last 6 months. Common injuries occur when players hands bash the ping pong table or the corners which often cause slits in the hand, this injury targets the palm, wrist, fingers. The elbow and shoulder joints are injured in most cases as well as spraining any other parts of the leg. All of these occur from swinging or having too muc of a sudden movement that causes these. A possibility for injury in this cautious sport could even be your opponent, Mike Aesoph, a proffesional ping pong player that popped intense popularity in 2017 when he started to hit ping pongs up to 1126.1 m/s he used this skill to gain popularity for some programs like “Boy Scout NOVA Shoot! Workshop” but in his time sending this cannon across the ping pong table he was an intimidating opponent especially if you got hit by one of his returns which would leave an indiffenat mark. Some players like Kristian Karlsson fell vitim to the sharp corners of the table that ultimately summoned the medics during the match. Another player who was in an intense back and forth, Ding Ning, was making sudden movements side to side until she sprained her right ankle making it difficult for her to return back to the match. Tomokazu Harimoto had a similar fate as Kristian and slit his thumb open along the corners of the table. Wong Chun-Ting also fell vitim to the unthoughtful movement causing an intense injury to the knee causing the match to end which is deadly to his career if his injury prohibits his actions for too long.

Europe also has a population of 742.3 million people. There are many languages spoken in Europe, but some of the most common are Russian, German, English, and French. There are many different attractions and places to visit in Europe but some of the most popular are the Eiffel Tower, Stonehenge, and Big Ben. The Eiffel Tower is a famous landmark in Paris, France. It stands at 300 meters tall and gets 7 million visitors a year. Its construction started in the year of 1887 and took 2 years to build. Another place to visit is Stonehenge which is also known as the most architecturally sophisticated prehistoric stone circle in the world. It was built about 5,000 years ago and was discovered in the 1620’s. The last place is Big Ben in London, England. The Big Ben’s construction started in 1843 and lasted 15 years.
