Dear 6th grade families,

Welcome back! We are looking forward to an exciting and wonderful year of learning. This year we will create a middle school environment in which all of the students are working together to be joyful, inquisitive learners. By employing a variety of instructional strategies, we hope to meet the needs of all students in our classes.

Your child will be receiving specialized instruction in each of the four content areas: reading, math, science, and social studies. This year, we will be integrating the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, which includes world language, design, and visual arts.

In the next few days, you will be receiving important paperwork. Please read the materials thoroughly and submit any required forms as soon as possible, especially the emergency form and the acceptable technology/permission to photograph form. As a reminder, there is a $75.00 student fee ($5 discount if paid before Sept 15) . Belding does not collect personal checks, so please send cash or money orders in an envelope, or you may pay online at https://magic.collectorsolutions.com/magic-ui/Login/cps-22221-hiram-h-belding-eleme

The student fee helps pay for much needed classroom supplies, workbooks, assignment notebooks, technology, and any future field trips and class activities. Students will also receive Belding School spirit wear t-shirts that they should wear on Fridays, Spirit Day! For more specific information regarding the sixth grade curriculum and expectations, you are invited to view our sixth grade curriculum overview on our google site: https://sites.google.com/cps.edu/6thgrade/home

If we need volunteers and chaperones throughout the year and you are not already an approved volunteer, please follow this link to apply.

This year, Belding will be using the Remind app as our means of communication for school or class events and announcements. Please download the Remind app or create an account on Remind.com. The class code is: belding6.

We are looking forward to working with you and your child this year. It is important that your child attends class every day, on time, and prepared to learn. By working together, parents, teachers, and students can make learning exciting, engaging, and challenging.

We are happy to help!
