Dear Families, Hello! My name is Mrs. B. Garcia, This would be my second year working at Nixon and I can’t wait to learn all about your child but first I will tell you a little bit about myself.I have a family of four and wonderful new puppy that keeps us busy.
My career in working with children began when I was working as a Special Education Child Assistant, during this time I finished my Bilingual Bicultural Education studies at Illinois State University. After graduating, I have taught 1st grade and 3rd grade. For the last 7 years I taught 3rd grade bilingual, and this last year and three months I worked as a 1st grade bilingual teacher. Both grades have helped me create a better understanding for the academic needs of a 4th grader. 3rd grade has taught me the level a prepared 4th grader needs to be. While 1st grade has taught me how to build a strong foundation in education. Currently I am working on a Masters in Reading Specialist.
As a lifelong learner myself, I am eager to continue learning to teach all students as well as learning from them, and this includes communicating with you about the needs of your children. You are my greatest resource for understanding how best to foster the growth of your children. It is my pleasure to work with you and your student this school year.
Sincerely, Mrs. B. Garcia 4th Grade Bilingual Teacherbgarcia3@cps.edu
