Taft High School Philosophy for Programming and Course Recommendations

The Administration, Counseling Department, and Faculty at Taft High School strives to program students into appropriate courses with the following goal and framing principle in mind:

Goal: Place Students at Taft in courses where they have strong short-term outcomes and prepare the groundwork for long-term success.

Framing Principle: We want to place Students in courses where they:

• Are cognitively challenges and supported

• Develop strong transcripts for Postsecondary endeavors (while meeting CPS Graduation Requirements).

• Have appropriate choices to explore the passions and areas of interest.
