Duties
Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) for Students; maintain compliance with all Federal Regulations and State Policies regarding the education of students with disabilities.
Provide educational and behavioral supports to enable students to improve academically and behaviorally.
Collect and analyze student data in order to modify and/or develop appropriate educational and behavioral goals.
Be able to implement specific educational and behavioral supports.
Provide direction and training to paraprofessional staff.
Effectively work with a large team of professionals.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
Build a partnership with families, encouraging their active participation in students’ learning.
Ensure appropriate accommodations to the curriculum, lessons and learning environment. Instruction may be provided within the regular classroom setting and/or small classroom setting.
May assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs; lifting; positioning; or assisting students with personal care such as feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
