State-mandated laboratory requirement:
For admission to a Regents examination in science, a student must complete the laboratory requirement (1200 minutes of hands-on laboratory, with satisfactory reports)
Schools are permitted to establish a target date for the completion and submission of the laboratory requirement at any time, but no later than one week prior to the administration of any component of a Regents examination in science

The NYS Earth Science Regents Examination consists of 2 Parts:
1. THE LAB PERFORMANCE TEST:
Approximately 15-20% of the total score
The school leaders decide the date of the Lab Performance Test
The performance test is to be administered at the school’s convenience during the last two weeks of the course, but no later than the day prior to the administration of the written test (http://www.p12.nysed.gov/assessment/hsgen/2018/541-618.pdf Top of page 13)
2. THE WRITTEN TEST:
50 Multiple Choice Questions (1 Point per Question)
35 Short Answer Points (Points per Question Varies)
