August 10th: Day 1: Buffalo to Albion

14 miles: Tonawanda - Start of canal

32.5 miles Lockport, Lunch Break

Option 1; Steamworks Coffee, 51 Canal Street, Lockport, NY. Looks out upon "Historic Flight of Five Locks".

Option 2; If Steamworks Coffee, doesn't work out, a park (Upson Park) is about 1/2 miles further that looks ideal for a picnic. Car to follow Grand St to Clinton St and right into park on Clinton St (small side road).

44.5 miles; Middleport

Small town with Alternative Grounds Café and Pony's Irish Pub

49.8 miles; Medina Falls on left

"Marvelous quick stop. Super pet friendly. Contains a new museum, 3 restored buildings plus the old locks.!"

"A hidden historical jewel. Well worth stopping for. The volunteer staff are wonderful and give a great tour of an old 1865 saloon that has been restored by our NYS toll money. Learned a lot about the history of the canal and our state and my 16 year old son really enjoyed it too. Highly recommended."
