The Moreland Media Center is a place where literacy comes to life. The Media Center programs are designed to inspire students to be life-long learners by becoming life-long readers.
The following is a list and description of the Media Center Programs offered at Moreland for the 2026-2027 school year.
StoryWalks
As time allows, a special book is chosen for classes to enjoy as a StoryWalk. A StoryWalk is a fun and engaging outdoor activity that combines reading with physical exercise. Pages of a children's book are posted along a walking path, allowing classes to read the story as they stroll from one station to the next. This interactive experience encourages literacy, movement, and exploration, making it a great way to enjoy a story while getting fresh air and exercise.
Book Fairs
Book Fairs are held twice a year- once in the fall and once in the spring. Book Fairs are also fund raisers for the Media Center so that new books can be purchased for our collection.
Guest Authors
We try to have a least one guest author visit a year. Guest authors often offer their books for sale during their visit. Information about a guest author visit will go home at least one week prior to the visit.
Special Events
Special reading events such as Read for the Record, World Read Aloud Day, Children's Book Week, Love to Read Month, and more are celebrated throughout the year to encourage and promote a love of reading all year long.
