IQWST is 12-unit Junior High science curriculum, developed with the support from the National Science Foundation. Each academic year includes four units, one in each discipline: Physicals, Life Science, Earth Science, and Chemistry. IQWST engages students in scientific practices as they experience, investigate, and explain phenomena while learning core ideas of science. Rather than memorizing facts, students build understanding by connecting ideas across disciplines and across Junior High. We will cover the following units:
Students will participate in whole group as well as small group lessons. Additionally, students will demonstrate what they have learned by participating in projects, hands-on activities, and labs.
Students will be assessed in a variety of ways including tests, quizzes, and projects. Study guides will be provided before each test. Students are expected to study at home each night leading up to a test. There will also be opportunities in class to review for a test. We will use Quizlet, Kahoot, Jeopardy, etc.
