COVID Updates 2022-2023

When should my child have a COVID-19 test:

Students should stay home and have a COVID -19 test if they have or complain of one of the following symptoms:

Couch(new)

Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Loss of taste or smell

Students should have a COVID -19 test if they have or complain of two of the following symptoms:

Fever Temp greater than 100.4, for fever alone the student must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication after a negative test before return.

Chills

Muscle or body aches

Headache 

Sore Throat 

Fatigue

Congestion or runny nose(new)

Nausea/vomiting

Diarrhea 

If negative, your student may return when free from fever, vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medication and other symptoms have improved. 

If the test is positive contact the school nurse for further guidance on the isolation period. 

Masks are strongly recommended for students with COVID symptoms.

Common illnesses/conditions:

Strep Throat:

A student diagnosed with strep throat may return 24 hours after starting the antibiotic and fever free for 24 hours without use of Tylenol/Motrin. Please notify the nurse if your child has strep throat.

Lice:

Student may return to school the day after treatment. Please inform the nurse if your child has lice.  A child with lice is never identified.  If your child has live lice I will contact you.  All family members should be monitored at least weekly for evidence of lice for 1-to-2 months after the original case.

Rashes:

Children with  rashes need to be seen by and cleared by their doctor before they attend/ return to school, and a doctors note provided.

Just a reminder that a doctor's order is required for ALL medication to be taken in school, including cough drops(During this time of COVID-19 cough drop orders will not be accepted, if you child is needing  cough drops they should be staying home). Please notify the nurse of any medication your child requires in school and she will assist you with the appropriate consent forms.
