A - G Requirements

The A-G / College Entrance Requirements are a sequence of high school courses that students must complete (with a grade of C or better) to be minimally eligible for admission to the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU). They represent the basic level of academic preparation that high school students should achieve to undertake university work

Standardized Testing

UC and Cal State Schools no longer require the submission of standardized test scores such as the SAT or ACT. However, students still have the option to take and include their scores in their college applications. Although these scores will not affect acceptance into the college in any way, it will help the school determine which courses to place students into. Additionally, taking the SAT and/or ACT can open students to more scholarship opportunities. Therefore, taking the SAT or ACT is still recommended, but no longer required.

🎓 College Entrance Information 🎓

Counselors can provide valuable information and guidance in the area of college preparation. Community Colleges

A community college is a two-year college providing training for semi-professional and trade careers, or transfer programs to four-year colleges/universities. High school course work should include some college prep classes.

California Community Colleges are required to admit any California resident or nonresident possessing a high school diploma or the equivalent.

Transfer Programs

California Community Colleges have transfer agreements with the CSU and UC system, thus making it easier for students to transfer into those schools. Some private universities have also established transfer agreements with California Community Colleges, but not all have. In order to transfer out to a university, students must enroll in an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) program at the community college level. It is recommended for students to visit the college's transfer center to develop a plan that will allow them to transfer to their university of choice.
