“They called me to the 3rd northern trench. A line to repair. Everything’s blowing up everywhere. I can’t really hear much anymore anyway. My eardrums were shattered by a shell. This war isn’t on my side. I’m 20 years old and I don’t even have a rifle.” The earth carries within it the memory of mankind. When men suffer, their sorrow and torment always rise back to the surface. In 1916, the fields of Verdun became the stage of an unprecedented savagery. Broken bodies, mutilated landscapes, skies darkened by despair… In this environment, a soldier, Julien, crosses through that shadowed time, leaving behind his youth and happiness. He and the nature surrounding him are bound forever in a shared destiny.

« Ils m'ont appelé à la 3e tranchée Nord. Une ligne à réparer. Ça saute de partout. Moi, j'entends plus grand chose de toute façon. Tympans pétés par un obus. C'est pas ma chance cette guerre. J'ai 20 ans et j'ai même pas de fusil. » La terre porte en elle toute la mémoire des hommes. Lorsqu’ils souffrent, remontent toujours à la surface leur peine et leur tourment. En 1916, les champs de Verdun furent le théâtre d’une sauvagerie sans précédent. Corps meurtris, paysages mutilés, cieux assombris du désespoir… Dans cet environnement, un soldat, Julien, traverse ce temps obscur en y abandonnant jeunesse et félicité. Lui et la nature qui l’entoure sont unis à jamais dans un destin commun.
