Prenant ses source dans l’animation, l’oeuvre de Michelle et Uri Kranot a largement dépassé ses frontières traditionnelles, mêlant la recherche expérimentale et les mediums insolites, les images créées à la main et les nouvelles technologies. Installés à Viborg au Danemark, les Kranot sont partie intégrante de The Animation Workshop, notamment comme producteurs et directeurs artistiques d’Anidox, dispositif dédié à l’animation documentaire. Ils ont également fondé la société de production TinDrum. Ils se sont fait connaître avec des films comme Black Tape, Terre d’écueil ou How Long not Long, et plus récemment pour le film et l’installation en réalité virtuelle Nothing Happens. Leur travail a été reconnu par des prix prestigieux comme le Prix Fipresci à Annecy, la shortlist de l’Académie des Oscar et le prix du Danish Statens Kunstfond pour les arts vivants.

Rooted in animation, Michelle and Uri Kranot's work has gone far beyond its traditional boundaries, blending experimental research and unusual mediums, hand-created images and new technologies. Based in Viborg, Denmark, the Kranots are an integral part of The Animation Workshop, notably as producers and artistic directors of Anidox, a facility dedicated to documentary animation. They also founded the production company TinDrum. They have made a name for themselves with films such as Black Tape, Terre d'écueil or How Long not Long, and more recently for the virtual reality film and installation Nothing Happens. Their work has been recognized by prestigious awards such as the Fipresci Prize in Annecy, the Oscar Academy shortlist and the Danish Statens Kunstfond award for live art.
