Happy Mother's Day Weekend to our TCS Moms! We hope you enjoy a relaxing and joy-filled weekend celebrating with your families.
Also, thank you to all of our parents and families for making Teacher Appreciation Week so special. We are incredibly grateful for your support and partnership, and we feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community!
Dodgers Den Week Overview:
It was an exciting and productive week in 3rd grade as students put the finishing touches on many of their Open House projects! The classroom has been buzzing with creativity, collaboration, and focus as students finalize special work they are eager to share with you soon. Our Zoo Area & Perimeter Projects have officially been completed, and students are now in the final stages of their Solar System Dioramas as they bring their learning to life in exciting ways. We are so proud of the hard work, persistence, and enthusiasm students have shown throughout this process, and we can’t wait for families to see all they’ve accomplished at Open House!
Note: **Our spelling test will be this coming Thursday, May 14.
Curriculum Snapshot:
Students put the finishing touches on their Area & Perimeter Zoo Projects and completed their final designs. We also practiced reading and interpreting pictographs while continuing to strengthen multiplication fact fluency through daily review activities and games.
Curriculum Snapshot:
Students continued reading our class novels Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Ways to Grow Love as we get closer to the exciting endings of both stories. They also connected themes, characters, and lessons from the novels to their Open House writing pieces. Each student’s writing piece is unique, and it has been wonderful to see their creativity, personality, and individual ideas shine through as they revise and polish their work.
Curriculum Snapshot:
Students have been hard at work completing the final stages of their Solar System Dioramas. They continued painting and assembling their projects as they prepare to showcase their creative work at Open House!
Curriculum Snapshot:
During our 4 Pillars of Wellbeing time, students have been learning how to become “self-scientists,” meaning they observe, reflect on, and learn about their own thoughts, feelings, and reactions. As part of this work, students completed a “My Curious Mind” activity, where they are identifying the things in their lives they are curious about. Through discussions and activities, students are practicing noticing how they feel in different situations. It has been wonderful to see them thoughtfully exploring how they can better understand themselves.
WEEKLY LEARNING SNAPSHOT
While TCS doesn't assign homework, many parents have requested at-home resources to support skill-building. We're happy to provide materials to help your child practice!
