Dodgers Den Week Overview:
It was an exciting week in 3rd grade as we continue preparing for Open House! Students have been deeply engaged in meaningful projects across all subject areas, combining creativity, critical thinking, and hard work. From connecting their reading to writing, to applying math skills in hands-on ways, to beginning new science projects, the classroom has been full of energy and focus. We are so proud of the effort students are putting into their work and can’t wait to share these special projects with you soon!
Please get a glimpse inside the classroom and view some exciting moments from the week below!
Note: **I've included new time unit and area and perimeter resources in the "Math Resources" section.
Curriculum Snapshot:
In math, students have been hard at work bringing their zoo area and perimeter projects to life and are now in the final stages of the process. They have been applying their understanding of measurement in creative and meaningful ways. We can’t wait for you to see the finished projects at Open House!
Curriculum Snapshot:
In ELA, we continued reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Ways to Grow Love, engaging in thoughtful discussions and making connections to the stories. Students have also begun working on their Open House writing pieces, which are inspired by and connected to the novels. We are excited to see their ideas come to life through their writing!
Curriculum Snapshot:
In science, we kicked off our Solar System Diorama projects! Students have begun creating their models and are already showing great creativity and effort. We are so excited to showcase these displays at Open House.
Curriculum Snapshot:
During our 4 Pillars of Wellbeing time, students have been learning how to become “self-scientists,” meaning they observe, reflect on, and learn about their own thoughts, feelings, and reactions. As part of this work, students completed a “My Curious Mind” activity, where they are identifying the things in their lives they are curious about. Through discussions and activities, students are practicing noticing how they feel in different situations. It has been wonderful to see them thoughtfully exploring how they can better understand themselves.
WEEKLY LEARNING SNAPSHOT
While TCS doesn't assign homework, many parents have requested at-home resources to support skill-building. We're happy to provide materials to help your child practice!
