Dodgers Den Week Overview:
It was an exciting and productive week in our classroom as we continue preparing for Open House! Students have been working hard across all subjects, putting extra care into their projects and showcasing their learning. There has been a wonderful sense of energy and pride as students refine their work, collaborate with classmates, and get ready to share all they’ve accomplished. We’re looking forward to celebrating their efforts and growth with you soon!
Please get a glimpse inside the classroom and view some exciting moments from the week below!
**I've included new time unit and area and perimeter resources in the "Math Resources" section.
Curriculum Snapshot:
In math, we reviewed telling time with a focus on reading time to the minute and solving real-world elapsed time problems. Students also continued working on their area and perimeter zoo projects, where they are designing animal enclosures, measuring side lengths, and calculating total area and perimeter. This project encourages problem-solving, precision with measurement, and applying math skills in a creative, hands-on way.
Curriculum Snapshot:
Students focused on identifying subjects and predicates in sentences, strengthening their understanding of sentence structure. We also wrapped up a poetry piece we’ve been developing and continued our novel studies with Ways to Grow Love and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, building comprehension and discussion skills.
Curriculum Snapshot:
We continued our solar system unit, exploring some of the wonders of space. Students had fun calculating their weight on different planets and ended the week with an exciting outdoor solar system game. One student acted as the Sun in the center, calling out planets or planet clues while tossing “asteroids” at orbiting classmates—bringing our learning to life through movement and play!

Curriculum Snapshot:
During our 4 Pillars of Wellbeing time, students have been learning how to become “self-scientists,” meaning they observe, reflect on, and learn about their own thoughts, feelings, and reactions. As part of this work, students are engaging in a “My Curious Mind” activity, where they are identifying the things in their lives they are curious about. Through discussions and activities, students are practicing noticing how they feel in different situations. It has been wonderful to see them thoughtfully exploring how they can better understand themselves.
WEEKLY LEARNING SNAPSHOT
While TCS doesn't assign homework, many parents have requested at-home resources to support skill-building. We're happy to provide materials to help your child practice!
