Happy Spring Break! We wish you a wonderful time with your family.
Dodgers Den Week Overview:
We had another wonderful and productive week in the Dodgers Den! Students continued to show curiosity, creativity, and perseverance as we worked through new learning experiences in Math, ELA, and Social Studies. From continuing the writing process and refining our drafts to exploring fractions through hands-on activities, there were many moments of excitement and discovery.
One of the highlights of our week was the Diversity Fair. What an exciting opportunity to celebrate and learn about different cultures, traditions, and perspectives; it was certainly a meaningful and memorable experience for our classroom community. It was great to see their enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the event!
Overall, it has been wonderful to see students collaborating, thinking critically, and celebrating learning together. What a special way to enter the break.
Please get a glimpse inside the classroom below as well as some pictures from the Diversity Fair!

Curriculum Snapshot:
Our fraction unit continued this week with a variety of hands-on and engaging activities. Students built and explored equivalent fractions using fraction pieces and applied their understanding in a fun St. Patrick’s Day activity by sorting marshmallows from Lucky Charms and determining the fractions of each type. We also practiced placing fractions on a number line and identifying equivalent fractions using tape diagram supports. In addition, students completed a “Name in Fractions” activity, where they represented their names as equal parts, identified unit fractions, and calculated fractions of vowels and consonants.

This week in Language Arts, we continued to focus on the writing process of our "Favorite Season," with an emphasis on completing rough drafts and engaging in peer editing. Students worked collaboratively to support one another by identifying spelling and grammatical errors, as well as offering suggestions to enhance details in their writing. We also finished reading Ways to Make Sunshine and are now working on a culminating activity. Students are writing a summary using the “Somebody–Wanted–But–So–Then” framework to help organize their thinking and clearly retell the story.
Women's History Month Presentations!
Curriculum Snapshot:
This week in Social Studies, students focused on researching and preparing their Women’s History Month presentations. Each student selected an influential woman in history and explored her life, accomplishments, and impact on the world. Using their research, students created thoughtful and creative posters to represent their chosen figure. They presented their projects on Thursday, where they shared what they learned with their classmates.

Curriculum Snapshot:
During our 4 Pillars of Wellbeing time, Matt has been leading the students in a lesson focused on self-curiosity. Students have been learning how to become “self-scientists,” meaning they observe, reflect on, and learn about their own thoughts, feelings, and reactions. Through discussions and activities, students are practicing noticing how they feel in different situations. It has been wonderful to see students thoughtfully exploring how they can better understand themselves.
