This week in the Blue Room, we learned that there are all kinds of families. We read about very large families and very small families, and every size and type of family in between. Even though all of our families are different, they all have one thing in common: they are all made up of people who love each other.
The children drew their own families on white paper houses while they named all of the different family members. We played with little color-sorting families in tiny houses, and practiced our parenting skills by taking our babies to the doctor for check-ups.
We have been mixing colors of paint to make new colors, but this week we decided to see what the children would do with white paint on dark blue paper. This study in contrasts proved to be extremely popular!
We were busy at the math center this week using unifix cubes and their self-correcting trays, sorting objects, and working with puzzles.
A favorite story this week was The Tub People, in which a family of tub toys lose their child when he goes down the drain! Luckily, a plumber is able to rescue him and the family is reunited.
This week we looked at some beautiful examples of Mexican folk art. Inspired by the beautiful patterns and colors, we decided to create our own beautiful watercolor works of art, which you can see up in our classroom.
On Thursday in our music class with teacher Lauren, we were all happy members of the rhythm section, using drums and maracas to keep the beat!
Feliz fin de semana,
