This week in phonics, we learned more about dithphongs spelling patterns with the spellings "aw" and "au". To practice, students did some word building, Walk the Room, and reading practice. We read a story about our world in pairs. As a class, students practiced all the sounds we have learned in first grade. Students learned new spelling words practiced them by writing sentences. Way to go 1st grade!

This week in math, students learned how to add coins together. We practiced identifying the names and values of the coins we use in the United States. To practice they learned a coins song and played an adding coins game. Students also completed a Think it out Thursday adding coins together. Students also reviewed addition and subtraction with regrouping and borrowing. Amazing work, mathematicians!

Students went to Spanish, Art, Music, P.E., and Technology this week. Students attended our last Friday 15, and we celebrated with an all-school dance party! Teacher Alessandra and students with summer birthdays also celebrated their birthdays together. Way to go, 1st grade!
