In 1st grade this week, we learned about irregular plural nouns and ending blends, we read with Ms. A, had ELA centers and learned about ordinal numbers in Math. We went to PE, music, Spanish, art, technology, and had science with Ms. Michelle. What a great way to begin the fall break!
This week in ELA we learned about irregular plural nouns. We read the story "Water Protectors" with Ms. A and followed up with a main idea & details worksheet. We also had ELA centers this week where students rotated in groups between small group time with Ms. A, cut & glue sequencing, phonics find its, and phonics puzzles. In phonics, we learned about ending blends and to practice we did some word building, phonics walk the room, and read a story with Ms. A. In writing, we practiced and wrote sentences with our red, spelling, and vocabulary words. Way to go 1st grade!
This week in math we learned about ordinal numbers 1st-10th place. To practice we did an activity on the iPads placing objects in their ordinal numbers order. Students also did a Think It Out Thursday where they walked the room and practiced writing the ordinal numbers. Amazing work, mathematicians!
Students went to Spanish, music, technology, and PE this week. We had art and science with Ms. Michelle. In art we read "We Are Grateful" about a Cherokee family who takes us through all the seasons, and we then followed up with making watercolor snowflakes for winter. Students also created penguins displayed in 1st grade to kick off the winter season. In science this week we learned all about plants: the plant life cycle, what plants need to grow, and parts of a plant. Students also had the chance to propagate a pothos plant and we are so excited to see them grow. Great work artists and scientists!
