In science this week, we connected our learning to this month’s heritage focus by celebrating Native American Heritage Month with an engaging lesson and activity. Students explored the life cycle of corn and then built their own corn. They used beads to represent the seeds and pipe cleaners to form the corn silk.
In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, we learned all about the totem poles of the Pacific Northwest during social studies. We discussed the different types of totem poles, how they are made, and what stories they tell. We then made our own totem poles.
During Challenge Time, we made Gratitude Jars. It was so much fun decorating our jars and coming up with all of the many things we're grateful for.
Thank you to everyone who came and helped put together the bagged lunches. We are proud to be partnering with Hang Out Do Good (HODG). Our next service learning day is December 12th, where we will be decorating bags.
For those who have not yet done so, please bring in your child’s supplies, emergency kit, and extra clothes.
