Hello Red Room Families,
This week in the Red Room we countinued creating some more wonderful art for open house, and we also learned about the lifecycle of a butterfly. We read a few books; the first was entitled Butterfly by Wendy Perkins and the other was Animals Butterflies by Nick Rebman. We also learned fun facts about butterflies. Butterflies are colorful insects with beautiful wings that come in many patterns, like spots and stripes. They start their lives as tiny eggs, then become caterpillars that love to eat leaves. After that, they wrap themselves in a chrysalis, where they transform in a magical way into butterflies! Butterflies taste with their feet and drink, sweet nectar from flowers using a long, straw–like tongue. Some butterflies, even travel very long distances, like tiny, flying adventures!
For art this week, the children had fun creating their own adorable very hungry caterpillars! They use dotted sponges with bright green and red paint to bring their caterpillars to life, then added cheerful faces using construction paper. The results were colorful, creative, and absolutely charming!
The children created beautiful butterflies, using a variety of vibrant paints. After adding colorful dots, they folded their paper and gently rubbed it to spread the paint, revealing unique and magical patterns on each wing. Every butterfly turned out one of a kind!
We wish we could share the finished creations with you, but they’re being saved as a special surprise. Stay tuned!
During centers this week, the children enjoyed exploring, kinetic sand, alongside small cars and trucks, rainbow, pebbles, playhouses, and various figures. The children also used colorful butterfly caterpillar counters for sorting activities. They also had fun building with blocks on the rug with friends, using their imaginations to create different structures and scenarios. In addition, they engaged with cars, trucks, and roads. We also set up a drawing area. so many of the children enjoyed expressing their creativity by drawing all kinds of pictures-from imaginative scenes to their favorite things. It was wonderful to see their ideas come to life and share in the excitement together!
Through these experiences, the children develop fine motor skills, practice, sorting and early math concepts, and strengthen their creativity and imaginative play. They also built social skills, such as sharing, cooperation, and communication while playing and building together.
During outdoor play this week, the children had fun making pretend cupcakes and building sand hills in the sandbox. They especially loved running across the meadow with their friends and chasing one another pretending to be monsters.
During music this week, the children continued practicing for the spring sing. They had a wonderful time being silly and dancing to "Shake Your Sillies Out". They're making great progress as they prepare for their performance. ,
