"Fill your house with stacks of books, in all the crannies and all the nooks."
-Dr. Seuss
This week we didn't just talk about where books can take us, what they can teach us or how much fun they can be to have around. We made our own stories, complete with covers, pictures and narratives. We learned what, "authors" and "illustrators" are and our students became both!
This week was all about completing a longer term Book project and seeing it through. Students made their covers first and then delved into art and storytelling, completing an entire book over the course of a week! We hope these end up being a kind of snap shot of their imaginative thinking at this age!
Each week these centers become more and more fluid. We're seeing students float from activity to activity with ease and interest. Centers like our library center were favorites, while sensory tables engaging early math skills and loft toys like finger puppets and dollhouse play, inspired dramatic play narratives.
This week we saw children realize elaborate building goals, create beautiful art on concrete and easels and engage in energetic chase games!
This week Mr. Brian kept us moving with an introduction to Mozart!
What a special week of books this was, as we soaked up everyone's favorite reads! We read books during circle times, snacks and lunch time as well!
*Apologies, as not every child's book is included here.
Children are constantly watching and learning from adults and we take this to heart, mindful to give each child in our care equal treatment and attention. It is our desire to nurture each student toward his or her own uniqueness.
Thank you for reading. Have a wonderful weekend AND DON'T FORGET KICKBACK THIS SUNDAY FROM 12-3PM!
