FRIDAY, January 9, 2026
This week during ELA, we practiced rhyming words and our new sight words. We also had reading groups and wrote our goals for the new year in our journals. In Math, we learned about place value using base 10 blocks. We practiced this by playing board games, a spin, build, and color game, and a flip and build game.

For science this week, our students learned about igloos!
We watched a video showing how igloos are built. Also, we learned how igloos can keep people warm in cold climates.
For our hands-on activity, students created their own igloos using marshmallows, paper bowls, and toilet paper tube rolls. They worked carefully to cover the entire bowl, exploring how structures are built and stregnthened.
