This week during ELA, we practiced sounding out CVC words, wrote in our journals, and played Kaboom! This week in Math, we practiced reading and creating bar graphs. We did this by doing fruit loop graphing, block graphing, jelly bean graphing, and a graphing walk the room! Please practice the following sight words at home:

This week in social studies, we celebrated Eid al-Fitr. Eid, or the "Festival of Breaking the Fast," is a major three-day Islamic holiday marking the end of Ramadan’s dawn-to-sunset fasting. A special thank you to Reza's Parents for reading A Golden Eid by Hiba Noor Khan and bringing treats to celebrate!
For science this week, we learned about the sun’s purpose! Students learned that the sun not only provides light, but also plays an important role in helping plants, animals, and humans live and grow.
For our activity, students created their own suns using paper plates. They used paint sticks to color the sun yellow, and added pipe cleaners with beads to represent the sun’s rays.
The Diversity Fair was a huge success! We had so much fun tasting new foods, learning about cultures and immigration from our middle school students and TCS parents, making community art, and playing in a drum circle with Teachers Kofi and Brian. Thank you to everyone who volunteered!
