Just a note of thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules
to come and talk about your kiddos with us for conference week.
We truly enjoyed meeting with each and every one of you
and are so blessed to have your children in our care.
This week we read The Gingerbread Man, and many of its iterations, some with different settings and endings. We do this to promote flexible thinking in children. This kind of thinking allows children to adjust perspective and embrace changing circumstances in their own world, modeling that there is more than one way to think about something.
We also began talking about the different holidays coming up, beginning with Kwanzaa. We talked about the harvest, light and family aspects of the holiday and decorated a flag of green, red and black.
This week the children gravitated toward puzzles, leaning into more and more challenge. We incorporated counting into our circle times and were able to recognize shapes naturally, as they occurred during our day.
This was a heavy art week with all kinds of themed activities like Gingerbread People, Gingerbread Paper Houses and Cardboard Gingerbread Houses the children are able to play with. We had so much fun!
Our centers were bustling with all kinds of creativity, learning and growth! We, "baked" cookies in the kitchen, reenacted beautifully told Gingerbread Stories by Ms. Renée at circle time. We turned castles in haunted castles, built towers and knocked them down. We put together a puppet show and took turns being the puppeteers and audience members. We built gingerbread houses and then played with them!
The obstacle courses continue, right alongside running, chasing, climbing, pedaling, digging and playing gingerbread games on the field!
We are gearing up for the Winter Sing on Thursday, December 18th, practicing our little hearts out!
This week we celebrated Violet's birthday with delicious cupcakes! Happy Birthday Violet!
Here are some of the themed books we read this week!
Have a relaxing and wonderful weekend,
Kate & Renée
