Hello Red Room Families,
This week in the Red Room we celebrated the Week of the Young Child. Week of the Young Child is a fun-filled week celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities.
Throughout the week, the Red Roomers participated in daily activities to help promote diversity, love and appreciation for all.
We’re also busy creating some wonderful art for Open House! We’ll share a few little glimpses of what we’ve been working on—but not too much… it’s all part of the surprise.
Monday was Musical Monday—did someone say drum circle? Oh yes, we did! 🥁🎶
The preschool yard was filled with energy as the kids danced, moved, and grooved to a lively mix of music from all kinds of genres. The excitement only grew when our two special guests arrived—Teacher Kofi (Kingston’s dad) and music teacher Brian—who led everyone in an unforgettable drum circle experience!
With egg shakers, maracas, drums, and tambourines in hand, the children explored rhythms, made joyful noise, and let their creativity shine. Smiles, laughter, and music filled the air. It was a fun-filled day the kids won’t soon forget!
A big thank-you to all our family and friends who donated fruit for our Friendship Fruit Salad Station! The kids had a fantastic time helping chop and prepare the fruit, and the best part was enjoying their delicious, freshly made fruit salad together.
What a fantastic turnout for Wacky Wednesday! There were so many kids looking absolutely adorable in their creative, wacky outfits. We even had a full fashion show; complete with music and plenty of excitement! The children paraded in a large circle, showing off their outfits and dancing with friends from all the preschool classes.
For Theatrical Thursday, some children arrived in costumes and gathered at the green table on the preschool yard, where they had a great time creating their own funny, adorable puppets—then put on a delightful little puppet show of their own!
For art, the children painted fruit, leaves, and other items inspired by one of the stories we read. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Very Hungry Caterpillar Eats Breakfast by Eric Carle. We don’t want to give too much away—it’s all part of a special surprise for Open House!
We’d like to send a very special thank you to Diana’s mom, Brynn, for coming in to read to the Red Room! She shared five wonderful and sweet books, and the children loved every one. They kept asking for more.
Brynn read Fancy Nancy by Jane O’Connor, Quick as a Cricket by Audrey Wood, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, Mad, Mad, Mad by Leslie Patricelli, and The Napping House by Audrey Wood.
We would like to send a very special thank you to all the parents who shared their occupations with us for Career Day. It was such a fun and inspiring experience for everyone!
From the Red Room, Otis's dad, Shane, a music producer and composer, visited us and spoke to each class about his exciting work. The children especially loved watching an adorable video featuring music he produced called Paradise. Shane also explained the process of writing a song and had the children choose words they would like to include in one of their own.
Willie, a nurse and midwife—and Della’s mom, from the Blue Room joined us to share fascinating facts about babies. She even demonstrated how to swaddle a baby when it cries and explained how she helps moms care for their newborns.
Max, a coffee shop owner and Penelope’s dad from the Blue Room, gave us a behind-the-scenes look at how coffee is made; from beans to grounds. The children loved getting to touch the beans and grounds, and they couldn’t get enough of the rich coffee aroma!
Jared, Mason’s dad from the Yellow Room, is a concept artist, director, and writer. He wowed us by sharing artwork he created for well-known movies. The children were amazed to see how one of his creature drawings was transformed into a 3D figure!
Zoe, a physician assistant and Emily’s mom from the Green Room, visited to tell us all about her important role in the hospital. She brought along scrub hats for the children and read a wonderful book called My Mom the PA, which everyone enjoyed.
Thank you again to all of our amazing families for making Career Day such a memorable and enriching experience!
We would like to send a very special thank you to Ryan's family for coming in to celebrate Ryan's birthday with the Red Roomers! Thank you for bringing in the delicious frosted cookies.
We would like to send a very special thank you to Diana's mom Brynn for coming in to celebrate Diana's birthday with the Red Roomers! Thank you for bringing the delicious, beautifully presented cupcakes, as well as the frozen plates and napkins.
