FRIDAY, 26 SEPTEMBER 2025
While autumnal breezes seem to operate more within mythical frameworks than in actualities here in SoCal, it remains officially a New Season. Bring on the altered foliage, the wobble of Earth's axis, the sea change from sunburns to spooktaculars. In short, bring on Fall.

Question: Are the students as amazing as always?
Answer: Oh, indubitably.
This week: Finalized both the Fiction Unit and Social Studies Civilization Project; MAP testing.
What a creative bunch of students we've in our mix. Several projects were finalized this week, including a STEM biography research mini project, a creative writing assignment centered around inventing their own monster, several Google Classroom assignments, and others. We're especially excited to see the students present their civilizations on Monday -- can't wait!
Next week: Fiction Unit test on Friday, 3 October: in class review and study guide to be provided; begin fantasy writing; grammar work.
This week: Began unit on whole number computation + rounding; order of operations; MAP testing.
While the majority of the class is forging ahead in learning (or reviewing) how to round and in what order numbers should be computed, three of our intrepid students have decided that a mini unit on income tax would be more their speed. Tax brackets and loan payments and budgetary concerns, ahoy!
Next week: Continue whole number computation.
Posture matters! We talked about how our posture can affect our ability to breath, focus, and interact with others. Our physical state often (almost always?) informs our mental state. So, ensuring that our bodies are aligned and ready to participate paves the way for our minds to have better focus.

Penelope!
She decided that we all needed a little more joy in our lives, that her classmates needed to feel seen. Thus, she made "Most likely to ..." awards for everyone.
Thank you, Penelope!
