"To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves."
-Mahatma Gandhi
There are all kinds of gardens. One might have a fruit or vegetable garden, a flower or herb garden. Some gardens are there to serve wildlife or support pollinators. Some serve as a treat for the eyes or as a reflection of culture, as with a Japanese or Zen Garden. While there are many kinds of gardens, they all offer a kind of stillness and appreciation for the natural world.
Many of our projects this week are under wraps until OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, but here are a handful of photos to give you a sneak peak!
We were fortunate to have some new toys in rotation this week, which got a lot of use. Our cooperative play and growing problem-solving skills have helped create ease and flow. More and more, we're hearing students use their words to navigate wants and needs!
We had a joyful week of outdoor play. We found bugs and let them crawl up our arms, we played games on the field and of course, had a great time on the play yard.
This week Mr. Brian played the piano so we could practice moving our bodies to different tempos and we practiced our songs for Spring Sing.
Books we read this week!
Curiosity comes naturally to young children. Turning that inward supports open-ended questions and observations about ourselves like, "I wonder why my hair is brown," or, "I notice I'm a fast runner." Noticing leads to curiosity and a lifelong love of learning and understanding ourselves and those around us.
