A light bulb is an electrical device that produces light. It is commonly used for illuminating spaces, making it easier to see in dark or low-light conditions. They are widely used in homes, offices, streets, vehicles, and more. The most common types of bulbs are incandescent, fluorescent, and LED bulbs. Incandescent Bulbs contain a thin wire filament which is usually made of tungsten. When electricity flows through the filament, it heats up to a high temperature, causing it to glow and emit light. Fluorescent bulbs contain gas that emits ultraviolet light when excited by an electrical current. A coating inside the bulb transforms the UV light into visible light. LED Bulbs use a semiconductor to emit light when an electric current passes through them.
