Urgent warning issued to Milton Keynes parents over gymnastics TikTok account
Parents across Milton Keynes are being urged to stay alert following a safeguarding warning linked to a TikTok account called “I Love Gymnastics.”
The concern was shared with local schools by a Safeguarding Officer from the Association of Dance Freestyle Professionals. Brooklands Farm Primary School has since passed the message on to families to raise awareness.
The account reportedly targets young dancers by promoting what appears to be free tuition, daily exercise routines, and training opportunities. Once users follow the link provided, they are directed to download external apps where they are promised access to exercise content.
However, the situation does not stop there.
Children are then encouraged to film themselves completing exercises and upload the videos, with claims that those reaching certain “optimum levels” could be featured. Safeguarding officials say this is where serious concerns begin.
Reports indicate that some children who submitted videos later received inappropriate suggestions about what they should or should not wear in future recordings. There are also claims that videos have been shared on platforms without the child’s knowledge or consent.
Authorities are treating the situation seriously and are urging immediate action if any child has been affected.
Parents are advised to contact the police straight away if their child has had a video posted without consent, has been contacted by the group, or has received any inappropriate messages.
At this stage, schools have reassured families that there is no evidence to suggest any of their own pupils have been directly affected. However, the warning has been issued as a precaution to prevent potential harm.
Families are encouraged to speak openly with children about online safety, particularly around sharing videos and engaging with unknown accounts offering opportunities that seem too good to be true.
