My education & why teaching?

Hello! My name is Ms. LaVigne. This will be my 2nd year of teaching at St. Stan's. I look forward to my first year teaching under Cotter Schools! I grew up in Farmington, MN. I graduated from Winona State University with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education K-6 in May of 2020. When I am asked what my favorite thing about teaching is, my answer is always "the kids." I love learning alongside my students, creating together, and helping my student's minds and hearts grow! I look at my class as a family and try my very best to create a positive and welcoming classroom community.

Background:

I grew up in Farmington, MN with my two younger brothers and my mom and dad. I graduated from high school in 2016 and moved to Winona to continue my education that following summer. I have always had a passion for working with kids, beginning with babysitting my own brothers and neighbors, field experiences throughout high school, coaching youth sports, and so much more. All of these things opened me up to the idea of becoming a teacher.

I currently have two dogs, Louie and Duke who keep me very busy. I also enjoy reading, being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and creating in my spare time. I love living in Winona!
