February Newsletter
MRS. SCHAEFER’S
FEBRUARY 2022 NEWSLETTER
Hello Parents!
January seemed like one long month! We are finally on our way to (hopefully) warmer weather! I am including in this newsletter what we will be working on during the month of February!
READING
The students are enjoying the book Holes. We will be reading Holes for the whole month of February, hopefully finishing it before spring break. The students have been meeting in their book clubs and I have seen a lot of great discussion going on during those meetings. The students will have their first writing assignment for the book club assigned this week. As a reminder, they may count the reading for their book club book into their monthly reading minutes.
MATH
We will be completing and having our Unit 4 Test this week. The students really enjoyed this unit. They will get their new workbooks this week and we will move into Unit 5 the second week of February. Unit 5 will focus on Operations with Fractions. My goal is to finish this Unit by the end of the month so that we can move into Unit 6 before spring break!
SPELLING
Please continue to work with your child on practicing for their Spelling Tests on Fridays. This should be done outside of the daily assignment I give them in class. The weekly assignments are as follows:
Monday-Spelling List in printed form
Tuesday--Spelling List in cursive form
Wednesday--Spelling List in ABC form
Thursday--Sparkle Review game in class
Friday--Test
RELIGION
We will be discussing in our next three chapters how grace is a gift from God. We are also continuing to learn about other Religions, which the students enjoy hearing about. We continue to have great discussion about the similarities and differences in our classroom discussions.
ENGLISH/LA
We will continue to work on Verbs over the next few weeks.. We are also spending a lot of time on our Autobiographies. If they are unable to finish this work in class, it may be sent home so that they do not get behind on this. As mentioned previously, this project will result in an Autobiography book that they will bring home at the end of the school year.
NOTES:
As always, please reach out to the individual teacher for any questions regarding Social Studies (Mrs. Pelowski), Science (Mrs. Nadeau), or Specialist (Music, Art, Gym, Band and Library) assignments.
Please make sure that your child comes to school everyday with snow pants, gloves, hats, and boots. As long as there is snow on the ground, they should have these with them.
Please remember to send a mask with your child every day. With the increase in Covid numbers it is important that they have their own mask with them on a daily basis.
I hope that you have a wonderful February!
Peace and Love,
Mrs. Schaefer
