Dear Parents,
The fourth grade team welcomes your child and your family to our 4th grade community. We look forward to a year of learning, fun and adventures. Some of the topics that we will be studying include North American culture, economics and geography, democratic government, inventors, the scientific process, environmental science, electricity, and simple circuits. In math, we will be learning multiplication and division, fractions, geometry, and algebraic equations. Finally, we will be reading 10 novels this year including one of our all time favorites, Shiloh. Every student will be exposed to mentor texts and participate in book clubs as we study the genres of realistic fiction, fantasy, autobiographies, non-fiction, poetry, and historical fiction. One of our favorite things about St. Luke is the opportunity to openly acknowledge all of God’s blessings and to study His word as we apply the teachings of Jesus to our daily lives. Getting to know your child and your family is what we most look forward to during the upcoming year. Our classrooms will be vibrant, positive, and compassionate communities of learners where everyone feels a sense of belonging and works cooperatively toward common goals.
Please know that we are dedicated to helping your child grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. As we prepare for each day, our hearts and minds are focused on each child’s unique strengths and interests so that we can choose the best teaching method to engage your student in the topic we are studying, provide them a safe place to make mistakes and celebrate successes. Each of us hope to be teachers that your son/daughter knows loves and cares for him/her.
Sincerely,
Ms. Bri, Mrs. Donahue, Mrs. Menke, and Ms. Molly
