School based counseling services are provided to assist students, teachers, and parents with learning and behavior strategies when a student has trouble in any school situation. Every child is occasionally confronted with situations that lead to frustration, fear, anxiety, or concern. Sometimes that child may need special attention to work through these temporary situations. In the event your student could benefit from some specific assistance, please feel free to contact me.
Because counseling is based on a trusting relationship between counselor and client, I will keep the information shared with me confidential except in situations where there is an ethical/legal responsibility to limit confidentiality. In the following circumstances, you may be notified if your student reveals information about hurting themself or others, child abuse or criminal activity. Your student will also be informed of the limits placed on confidentiality in our counseling relationship.
I follow the American School Counselor Association's Ethical Standards for School Counselors. Ethical Standards for School Counselors serve as a guide for the ethical practices of all school counselors, supervisors/directors of school counseling programs and school counselor educators regardless of level, area, population served or membership in this professional association. The ethical standards provide support and direction for self-assessment, peer consultation and evaluations regarding school counselors’ responsibilities to students, parents/guardians, colleagues and professional associates, schools district employees, communities and the school counseling profession. Lastly, the ethical standards inform all stakeholders, including students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, community members and courts of justice of best ethical practices, values and expected behaviors of the school counseling professional.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
