Please put your recorder back into your backpack after practicing!
Use the Google slides below to practice. Remember, the ear icon is for listening and fingering along without playing. Turtle is for practicing slowly. Once you can play at turtle speed with no mistakes, then you can practice at bunny speed! If you would like to print out the music, download the PDF below.
Use slow, gentle air. The recorder is meant to be a quiet instrument. Not very much air is needed to make a sound.
Cover the holes completely with flat, pancake fingers. Make sure your fingers are sealing the holes completely. You should be pressing down (without hurting yourself), so that when you look at your fingers you can see a complete circle ('Recorder Wart').
Separate notes by silently saying “too” into your recorder.
Ask your student/ show your family rest, practice, and play positions.
Try recording yourself and listening back to your playing.
