Agendas: We are going to ask each girl to show you (her parent) her agenda when she gets picked up for the day to let you know about any upcoming assignments or homework. We will give you a verbal run-down of the day at that time. Can you help us by sending your daughter with an agenda this week.
We will continue to follow CDC guidelines regarding COVID procedures (see additional info on COVID procedures below). HERE are local testing sites that do not require an appointment and are free. Results come back 12-24 hours per their website.
We will "check-out" your child every afternoon. What this means is that we will provide you a brief run-down of the day/afternoon, we will ask the girls to get out their agenda and your daughter will report to you about her grades in every class and also what assignments she has left to do (tonight or before she comes to CORRAL next). Please make sure you don't leave with your daughter until she has been checked out and please make sure she has her agenda pulled out of her backpack (meaning she needs an agenda!). We find that girls jump in with their parents and say "let's go!" when they are trying to avoid accountability. This quick meeting is an opportunity to make sure we stay on the same page with you.
As a reminder, please ensure your child does not bring her phone to the farm
Girls are invited to attend three afternoons per week and all day Saturday (9a-5p). While we are encouraging girls to attend every day after school Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; we are happy to discuss what schedule will work for your family at our individual meeting this summer. Of note, if a student is consistently making below 70s in any class, she will be required to attend all three days after school. After school doors will open @ 3p, girls are asked to arrive by 4p. Saturdays will be 9a to 5p

Here's a great resource for feeding your family that we wanted to share. A recipe book called "Affordable Flavors" is a buying guide to feed a family of 4 for $500 a month. https://kidseatincolor.com/affordable-flavors/
Encouragement from a blog post I read about parenting. I thought this was especially helpful for me, as a parent this week. We all want our children to be successful, kind, resilient, grateful, confident. But how do we get them to be this way? The simplest but most powerful tip I was given as a parent is that our children live up to our versions of them. What does it mean? It means they respond to and reflect back to us our expectations and our opinions of them. You might be thinking...but my child is acting unkind, why should I tell them that I think they ARE kind? It's important that you separate, in your mind, their behaviors from their true selves. Remember that they are NOT their actions and behaviors. Their brains are developing. Their emotions often get in the way. What we need to remember is that they are always good inside. And it's very important for children to know that you see this goodness in them. Here are some things you can say:
"I believe you're a kid who can do hard things."
"I know you're a kind and loving brother."
"I know you're feeling grateful inside."
They will reflect back your version of them...written by Chief Creator at Big Life Journal
Please take a moment to watch these two videos with your daughters and talk with them about the impact that technology may be having on them, their brains, their behavior and your family.
