I am a Bay Area native who attended St. Mary's College in Moraga, studying Biology, prior to earning my degree in Diversified Liberal Arts and a multiple subject teaching credential. I have been a classroom teacher at several Catholic schools in the Bay Area over the past 22+ years in 4th-8th grades, and this is my 10th year teaching Science, my favorite subject, at Corpus Christi School. Along the way, I have participated in many science programs and volunteer opportunities, including engagement with Lawrence Hall of Science and their “Full Option Science System” (FOSS), Chabot Space and Science Center workshops, NGSS rollouts, including Environmental Literacy, and “Save the Bay”'s environmental efforts to restore Bay Area salt marshes. I have participated in the “Trout-in-the-Classroom” program through the East Bay Regional Parks and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for many years, and have also been a volunteer coach with the program.
My passion is for nature and the environment. I have participated in workshops on butterflies, raising trout in the classroom, and environmental literacy. I participate in citizen science efforts, and am a backyard beekeeper, and a member of the Mt. Diablo Beekeepers Association.
Our 7th and 8th grade students participate in the Diocesan Science Fair each year and many have moved on to the Alameda County Science and Engineering Fairs. I enjoy getting students interested in and excited about Science!
