Miss John - Weekly Update

Week of September 29th, 2025

Math: We will continue learning numbers 1-5. We will match groups of numbers together to figure out if they are greater than or less than. We will complete the Unit 2 Review.

ELA: Our story this week is called, "Schools Around the World." We will learn continue learning about characters, setting, and topic. We will continue learning our letters and their sounds. We will focus on the letters M and S this week.

Religion: We will wrap up Chapter 2 reviewing Jonah and the Whale, the importance of the Bible, and the importance of our names. We will start Chapter 3 where we will learn about the story of Creation as well as Noah's Ark.

Science: We will learn about the life cycle of an apple.

Social Studies: We will read our next Scholastic where it talks about the life cycle of an apple and our five senses.

Week of September 22nd, 2025

Math: We will continue learning about numbers 1-5. We will count groups of 4 and 5, we will learn the number that is one more, we will explain the number 0, and we will put objects in equal groups. We will practice writing our numbers.

ELA: Our story this week is called "Kindergarten Kids." We will learn about the different characteristics of poetry. We will learn about verbs and how they are action words such as walking and talking. We will learn our letters and the sounds they make. We will focus on the letters Q-Z

Religion: We will continue learning Chapter 2 about how our names are important, the importance of the Bible, and learn about the story of Jonah.

Science: We will learn about Scientific tools.

Social Studies: We will read our next Scholastic Reader that talks about ways we can help in our classroom community.

Week of September 15th, 2025

Math: We will start discussing numbers 1-5. We will count groups of numbers and practice writing numbers 1-5.

ELA: Our story this week we will read is called "A Squiggle Story." We will talk about what fiction is. We will learn that nouns are people. We will learn our letters and the sounds they make.

Religion: We will start Chapter 2 where we will learn that each one of us is called by a name and our a names are special.

Science: We will learn about what push and pull are.

Social Studies: We will read our next Scholastic Reader that talks about making friends at school.

Week of September 8th, 2025

Math: We will begin talking about what Math is and how we use it every day.

ELA: We will read many different stories that talk about going to school and things that we do in school. We will learn about identifying the characters and setting in the stories. We will practice our letter sounds and identifying the letters.

Religion: We will discuss how Jesus loves us and welcomes us. We will come up with examples of welcoming others.

Science: We will discuss what science is.

Social Studies: We will read our first Scholastic Reader where we will learn about morning routines.
