My name is Gerine Mackunis and I am the middle school science teacher at Corpus Christi.
I graduated from the University of Scranton with a BS in Education. I hold an Instructional II (permanent) teaching certificate from the state of Pennsylvania. This year is my 29th year teaching science! Teaching in a Catholic school is definitely my niche. I love being a teacher and enjoy helping my students learn. I like to have fun, and I try to make my classroom an enjoyable place to learn. Everyone is welcome and has a place in my classroom. I strive to create an environment where my students feel comfortable being themselves.
My husband, Ken, and I have two sons, both of whom graduated from Corpus Christi. I took a "break" from teaching to stay at home when my boys were little. One is a 2022 Penn State University graduate and the other is a 2025 College of Charleston graduate. Being a mom has been the best job and I know it has helped make me a better teacher. I also am Mommy to an adorable (and naughty) beagle named Barkley.
In my free time I enjoy reading, doing yoga, spending time with family and shopping. I love the beach and head there every chance I get.
