Many students choose to earn money towards their educational/personal expenses or term bill through an on-campus or off-campus job. Each academic year, students may be eligible for either Federal Work-Study (FWS) or student hourly . Federal Work-Study and student hourly are funded by different sources. Student hourly is based on a department’s budget while FWS is a type of financial aid. Eligibility for FWS is determined by the Financial Aid Office, based on FAFSA information. The Financial Aid Office will notify students of FWS eligibility. Please reach out to Yolanda Williams, ywillia2@corning-cc.edu, if you have questions regarding FWS eligibility or complete and submit this FWS Request Form. Students not eligible for FWS can obtain a non-FWS campus job or off-campus job.

HR paperwork
Before students can start working, they must complete the necessary HR paperwork. The HR paperwork can be picked up and dropped off in-person at the Human Resources office (Parsons Administration, 1st Floor) during the following hours: Mondays and Tuesdays 9:00-11:00am and Wednesdays 1:00-3:00pm. Appointments available upon request by calling (607) 962-9229 or emailing HR@corning-cc.edu. Additional HR packets are available for pick-up at the Career & Transfer Services Office (Commons, M210) OR can be downloaded and printed double-sided using this link.
When handing in the HR paperwork you must provide the following documentation (no copies/photos accepted):
1. Photo ID (for example, student ID card or driver’s license) and 2. Document confirming that you are eligible to work in the United States (for example, Social Security card or birth certificate)
OR 3. Photo ID and employment eligibility confirmation in a single document (for example, U.S. Passport).
Please read the guidelines and look through all the paperwork carefully before filling it out. If you were employed at CCC within the past year, you will not have to resubmit the HR paperwork. Please contact Human Resources if you have any questions.
Getting paid
The Payroll Office will contact you once you have been added to the CCC payroll system with instructions on how to submit your timesheet. Students will receive a bi-weekly paycheck, which will be either direct deposited into your bank account or a check sent to the home address provided to us. Any questions on paychecks can be directed to payroll@corning-cc.edu. Note Federal Work Study is not applied toward your charges for the academic year. Therefore, your tuition bill will not reflect any money you receive from your federal work-study job.
Training
All CCC employees — including student workers — are required to complete FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), Sexual Harassment, and Workplace Violence Prevention training. You will receive an email from Vector/SafeSchools within the first few weeks of employment with a link to the required training. Contact Human Resources if you have any questions or do not receive an email.
