Online Youth Advocacy Services Via Google Meet

In addition to our online violence prevention courses Cornerstone's School Based Services team is offering one-on-one youth advocacy support for young people ages 13-21 in the Twin Cities metro area. Cornerstone Advocacy Services has partnered with Hennepin County schools for over 25 years providing specialized services to students concerning a variety of issues related to violence prevention, including: building healthy relationships, anger management issues, harassment, identifying abusive behaviors, building support networks, and positive emotional expression.

Our team of youth advocates are ask-able adults; we are down to earth, easily approachable, and trained to support the social-emotional needs of young people. While we aren’t therapists, we are able to support basic mental health needs, be a supportive ear, and help young people develop skills that empower them to thrive and rise above challenges in their lives.

Our services have always been completely free. During school closures related to COVID-19 we feel that it is now more important than ever for young people to have the support and connections they need to stay mentally healthy. For this reason, youth are invited to connect with a Cornerstone advocate through a new venue called “telehealth” meetings. Meetings will occur online through the Google Meet app. We have worked with Google to ensure that this service complies with HIPAA confidentiality requirements to ensure the safety and privacy of everyone. Meetings with a Cornerstone youth advocate can happen as a text chat, voice call, or a video meeting.
