Clean up after yourself.Β Doing a lab or activity? Help clean up your area, your table and the floor including trash or supplies.Β Cutting out an INB? Clean up the paper pieces, sweep the floor, cleanup the glue on the table.
Clean up after yourself at lunch, throw trash away, wipe the tables with disinfecting wipes, sweep the floor, put the chairs back where they belong.

Sit in your assigned seats from the moment you walk into the gym until it's time to leave the gym.Β If you sit wherever you want until a teacher walks in, you don't have integrity.
Respect classroom expectations, school rules, and the dress code.
Phones stay off and in backpacks.

Students should bring a note explaining the absence and give it to the office.
Students have one day extended beyond the original due date to make up missing work for each day they were absent.Β Β
Please avoid the use of the phrase "Did I miss anything when I was absent?'Β The answer is "yes."
Do not walk in and ask what you missed.Β Everything we do in class is on listed on my website every day.Β
DO walk in with a plan on how and when you will make up missing work and check with the teacher.Β
A lot of students complete their work while absent in google classroom but itβs not required.
Just do them, no excuses.Β
Finding Directions For Each Assignment β Listen to the teacher when directions are given, check my website and Google Classroom, ask a neighbor or friend.
Headings On Papers β Full Name on the top line of the paper on the RIGHT.Β Must be legible.
All papers collected in class should have your full name, date, and class period in the right-hand corner. Neatly print your full first and last name. If I canβt read it or know who it belongs to, I cannot give you credit for it.
Turning In Completed Work β Most assignments will be turned in on google classroom, some assignments may be collected in class, this will be noted in the assignment instructions.
All assignments turned in after 11:59pm on the due date require a Late/Missing Assignment Turn-in Form to be turned in.Β No form, no credit.
Work is due on the due date. Students have one week after the due date to turn in late work for partial credit.Β After that week no credit will be given for late work.
If you are saying to yourself, "I know I turned that in", check google classroom and if you did, fill out a Late/Missing Assignment Turn-in Form and turn it into the green basket up front.Β If you don't turn in the form, I won't know you turned in your work.
If you complete an in-class assignment early, follow directions given, if none you may work on assignments for another class or read a book.
How will you know it's time to pay attention and stop talking?
The teacher will tell you. Some examples may include: "Can I get your attention please?" "Please stop talking" Usually this happens more than once.Β Eventually my voice will keep getting louder until you hear me.Β I may get tired of asking and just stand at the front waiting.Β Β
I also have a doorbell, when you hear it, you should be silent immediately.Β
It would be really nice and make a better classroom environment for everyone if you stopped talking the first time you are asked politely.
Bathroom breaks will be provided as neededΒ
Students are issued a bathroom card which must be initialed by your teacher each time a student goes to the bathroom.Β Students have two opportunities to use the bathroom or get a drink from the beginning of the day, through lunch time.
If a student goes to the bathroom during class, they must sign out of class using the sign-in/out form.Β
Only one girl and one boy may leave the room at a time.Β
No one may use the bathroom while the teacher is talking/teaching. You must wait for independent working time.
Students may go to the bathroom at lunch in the first 5 minutes of lunch or the last 5 minutes of lunch.Β There will NOT be a constant flow of students in and out of the classroom.

Students will walk into the classroom moving quickly and quietly directly to their assigned seat while keeping talking and distracting others to a minimum.Β
I am monitoring students in transition and can't answer your questions as you walk into the classroom. Please hold onto your questions until transition is over and class has begun unless it's an emergency.
Be prepared. Bring your Chromebook, a pencil, and notebook with paper to each class. (Sharpen pencils before class begins.)
All items not related to learning should be off your desk/table during class.Β This includes but isn't limited to backpacks, lunch, purses, handbags, water bottles.
Students will take out their notebooks, pens, pencils and other materials quickly and quietly.Β Do not just stand at your seat socializing.Β Get seated as quickly as possible and begin working.
Students will check the agenda on the board and on my website. Students should also check the board/screen for messages or direction from the teacher.
Remain in your seat unless you have been given permission to do something.
Raise your hand to speak and wait for acknowledgement, don't just blurt out.
Once I am ready to start class, allow me to talk first, then I will ask if there are any questions.Β Raising your hand to ask a question or blurting out while I'm trying to start class is a waste of class time.Β You will have your chance to speak.Β There is a very good chance that I will answer your question before you ask it.Β
Cell phones are NOT allowed and therefore should be silent and out of sight during class. Cell phones should be placed in bookbags and not be visible to the teacher at any time.
No wireless headphones will be allowed during class except when directed by the teacher.Β If a student has wireless earbuds, Airpods, etc in their ear(s) they will be asked to give them to the teacher until the end of class.
Smart watches are allowed but texting and other "non-time" related functions are not.Β Watches should be on "School Mode" during the school day. If you are observed texting you will be asked to give your watch to the teacher and all cell phone consequences apply. Smart watches are never allowed during tests and quizzes, place it in a pocket or bag during those times.
Β Consequences:Β
1st Offense: Teacher confiscates the cell phone for the remainder of the class.Β Students can pick up the phone at the end of class.
2nd Offense: Teacher confiscates the cell phone for the remainder of the day.Β Students can pick up the phone from Mrs. Cobb at the end of the day, prior to dismissal.
3rd Offense: Teacher confiscates the cell phone. Parents/guardians must pick up the phone during school hours from Mrs. Cobb.
Chromebooks are only to be used when directed by a teacher.
Students using devices connected to the school network have no right to privacy.Β Β
Β GoGuardian is a program used by CCA staff to monitor Chromebooks. Your activities are being documented and may be shared with other teachers, administration, and parents/guardians.Β Β
All devices, are owned by the school may be taken at any time by the teacher if you are observed off task.Β
They are for schoolwork only.Β
You must never use a laptop that is not assigned to you without permission.
No pictures or video may be taken in class unless it is being used for a specific assignment authorized by the teacher.
Chromebooks are not allowed to be used during lunch.
The ringer on the classroom phone is very quiet, please let me know if you hear it ring.
Be quiet when the teacher is on the phone. Students always seem to get loud when I'm on the phone, don't do that.
If a student needs to call home, they should ask first.Β Students needing to call home should use the classroom phone with permission. If it's during an assessment or if it's a private matter, students should ask to go to the office to use the phone.
Students are not allowed to answer the phone.
We will not dismiss class until everything is cleaned up and put away as directed. Even if you didn't make the mess, please help keep the classroom clean and get it cleaned up.
If you made the mess, clean it up.Β If you are in a group that made the mess, everyone in the group is responsible.Β Help keep the classroom clean and orderly.
Students who disrupt class, instruction, the teaching environment or are not engaged in learning will be asked to step into the hall.
Students must stay in the hall and stand next to our classroom door.Β Students may not wander the halls, disrupt other classrooms, go to the bathroom, go to the office, go to see Mrs. Cobb or Mr. C.Β Β
The change of location does a few things.Β
Interrupts the behavior the student is doing and how it affects the others.Β
Gives the student a moment to pull themselves together.Β
Gives the teacher a moment to pull themselves together.Β
Gives a private place for teacher and student to resolve issues.
The teacher should come out and talk to you in approximately 5 minutes.Β If the teacher doesn't come out in the hall after about 5 or 10 minutes, please open the door and get the teachers attention.
Students who continue to be disruptive or argue, will be bounced to another classroom or sent to Mrs. Cobb.
Depending on the severity or frequency of the disruption, the bounce will last long enough for a reflection or the entire class period.Β You will be asked to take your belongings with you if it will be for the whole class period.Β Β
Complete the ticket out the door.
Do NOT pack up or line up at the door or dismiss until the teacher tells you to.Β
Make sure you have all your personal belongings.Β
Make sure your area is neat and clean, including the floor.
Straighten your table.
PUSH In your chair.Β
At the end of the day, stay in your assigned seat until you are dismissed. Chairs go on top of the table's, upside down.
Line up in a single file line behind the tape line on the floor.Β Do not block the door or line up in the hall.

Students are not allowed out of their seat for any reason unless directed by the teacher or another procedure allows for it.Β Β
Students are NEVER allowed to sit anywhere except their assigned seat unless directed by a teacher.Β Β
You cannot decide on your own to move next to someone to share a textbook or laptop or to charge a laptop or get help.Β Β

When students are to work in groups, move quickly and quietly with no disruptions or horseplay.Β Only work in groups as directed by your teacher.Β Β
I love giving students the opportunity to work in groups, however every time that I do, there are groups that get loud and socialize instead of working.Β These students then end up saying they need more time to complete the assignment.Β There will not be an extension to due dates, so if you choose to socialize in class, then be prepared to work at home.
Groups can be formed in a variety of ways.Β Primarily elbow/shoulder paired groups of two.Β Other grouping can be randomly selected or directed by the teacher.Β
If you're not feeling well and need to go to the restroom or the office, raise your hand and ask.
If you are suddenly sick try to communicate to the teacher, the problem you are experiencing.Β Β
If you leave the room without being able to communicate, the teacher will send a student to follow you or find you to make sure you're okay.
When assigned independent work, this is time to work on a specific assignment.Β you may not work on assignments for other classes or work on late work.Β Β
Stay "locked in" do your work in the time provided and avoid socializing.
All students should be working on the specific assignment for that class period, no exceptions.Β When you are done with the assignment, you should follow expectations for finishing early.
Quickly and quietly get up, go to the front right corner of the room away from the windows and the classroom door.Β
Students must keep their hands to themselves and do not make sound.Β
Drills are a time to practice your behavior for a real event.Β During a real event you must stay silent to not attract attention to the class.Β You must keep your hands to yourself so that you don't make others make noise.Β Β
Please try not to pass gas, you know everyone will react with sound.
Chromebooks are not allowed to be used during lunch.
Two students chosen by the teacher will go downstairs to get lunches at 12:07.
During lunch students must stay in their assigned seats unless directed by the teacher.Β Assigned seats are necessary to make sure that students personal items are not touched by other students sitting in their seat.Β Assigned seats are also necessary so that students are able to be held accountable for their mess.
Students should not be getting up multiple times during lunch.Β Save your trash to throw away one time at the end of lunch.Β Β
Students are not allowed to go to other classrooms during lunch.
If a student comes in from another classroom, they must first go to the the teacher to tell them why they are in the classroom.
Students may go to the bathroom at lunch in the first 5 minutes of lunch beginning at 12:07 or the last 5 minutes of lunch beginning at 12:30, only if your table is clean and wiped.Β There will NOT be a constant flow of students in and out of the classroom.
All students are expected to clean up after themselves at lunch.Β Students must wipe their table with a Clorox/Lysol wipe or similar.Β Wipe the whole table, not just the half you sat at, it's a waste of wipes.Β
Students must sweep the floor around their seat.
The class will not go to recess until the tables are wiped and the floor is clean.
Please consider donating wipes.Β Wipes are not provided by the school so our classroom depends on donations to keep the tables clean.
The microwave is for heating up lunch only - No Science ExperimentsΒ
Follow the instructions on your food.
Your food must have a paper plate under it and a paper towel on top of it.Β
Watch your food at all times when it is cooking for spills, burning, etc.Β Especially popcorn.
No fish allowed in the microwave.
If youβre not sure how to operate the microwave, ask a friend.
If you make a mess, it is your responsibility to clean it up.
Donβt leave your food or wrappers on the counter.
It is not my job to clean up after you.Β Β
When Students Do Not Have Pencil and Paper or Other Materials, most of the time, notebook paper and pencils are available if a student forgets.Β Β
Something else?Β Ask a neighbor first then raise your hand to ask the teacher if needed.Β
Going to the Office β You may only go with permission and only go when the teacher is not directly teaching or explaining.Β Only one person may leave the room at a time.
Almost always, my questions to you will be "cold-call" questions, meaning that I will call on you without you raising your hand. I use a random name picker to choose the students that get called on. Β
If you have a question or are responding to a question asked by the teacher, please raise your hand.Β Β
Don't Blurt. (/blurt/ verb. to say something suddenly and without careful consideration)
During instruction, students will be called on randomly (cold called).Β
When responding to a question, take your time and think before you reply.Β Β
If you ask a question, I will try my best to answer it, If you ask a question that isn't directly related to the topic of instruction you may be asked to write it down and give it to the teacher at another time or after class,
Personal sharpeners are suggested, but in the event the class sharpener is needed only one student at a time!Β Β
The class sharpener is NOT to be used during teacher instruction, discussion, or presentations.
Students that leave class to go to another location, for example, another classroom, the office, or the bathroom when not during a whole group break must use the Sign In/Sign Out form.
No talking is allowed when the teacher is talking or during whole group instruction or when directed by the teacher.Β Β

When talking is allowed it is expected that students discuss only science related topics and the conversation is at conversational level, not yelling or talking loudly.
If you are talking when you are not supposed to, the teacher will remind you to stop.Β After the reminder if you continue to talk, you may be asked to move to an isolated seat in the classroom or step into the hall.

Runny Nose? If you just need to blow your nose, raise your hand and ask before getting up.Β Is mucus pouring out of your nose and you're catching it in your hand or it's dripping onto your desk?Β You should probably get up and get a tissue.
