Hi! I am Yongxin, a PhD candidate at the Brooks School of Public Policy at Cornell University with a concentration in sociology and a minor in demography. I am also a graduate student affiliate at the Cornell Population Center (CPC), Center for the Study of Inequality (CSI), and Cornell Center for Social Sciences (CCSS). I received my MA in Economics in 2020 from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and BAs in Economics and Sociology in 2018 from Peking University.
I am broadly interested in family demography and health inequalities. Some overarching questions that motivate my research include: Who is going to care for older adults in an increasingly aging society? What are the life course patterns of care-giving and care-receiving? What types of social policy can better support older adults in need of care and their caregivers? I am trying to further the understanding of these questions from an interdisciplinary and international perspective.
